The philosophy of Expo 2005 Aichi was taken on by the Global Industrial and Social Progress Research Institute as an organization to continue and further develop the philosophy of Expo 2005 Aichi. Projects to commemorate, convey the achievements, and make practical the results of the Expo have been undertaken.
The Aichi Pavilion Seto in Kaisho no Mori, the Seto Area of Expo 2005 Aichi, has been remade as the Aichi Kaisho Forest Center. It is active in efforts to preserve and utilize Kaisho Forest, and is also being used as a center for learning and exchange with regard to forestry and rural life.
The Nagakute Area has been redeveloped as the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park, and the tentatively named Global Center is being constructed at the site of the former East Gate, scheduled for completion in 2010.
The Commemorative Park is also scheduled to be one of the sites for the 10th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 10) to be held in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture in October 2010.
The Expo 2005 Aichi Volunteer Center, which supported the Expo as a citizen-participatory-type Expo, has continued the Expo 2005 Aichi philosophy and spread the circle of volunteerism to people beyond specific fields and communities. The Center has continued as a specified nonprofit organization that enables people to experience the pleasure and meaning of volunteerism with the aim of contributing to the realization of a new civil society through volunteerism, and has promoted activities centered on the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park and the Expo Eco-Money Center.
The activities of the NGO Global Village, which was a stage for private citizens' exhibitions and participation, have been continued by many private citizens and organizations to continue and develop the Expo philosophy.
