Morizo is an old and knowledgeable "forest grandfather" who has existed since Japan's pre-historical Jomon era in the distant past. He is a forest spirit who knows all about the forest, and has mystic power and a kind heart. Morizo has many powers; he can cause gentle breezes or bring sunshine filtering through the trees to weary humans. Morizo has great fondness for Kiccoro, a "forest child" who was born not long ago. Kiccoro is filled with a cheerful innocence, and runs about wanting to see and do everything. Kiccoro is curious and energetic, and loves making friends with all the different people, animals, and plants. Hearing rumors about Expo 2005 Aichi, Morizo and Kiccoro came out of the forest to appear in various Expo 2005 Aichi scenes and support Expo efforts.

After the Expo Morizo and Kiccoro returned to the forest, but continue to support various activities to carry on the philosophy of Expo 2005 Aichi.
