The official website of the Japan Pavilion (hereinafter, "Website," http://shanghai.expo-japan.jp/) at Expo 2010 Shanghai, China is managed and operated by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). JETRO acts diligently to protect the personal information of users, and properly manages and operates the Website so that users can use it with assurance.
This Privacy policy explains JETRO's handling of personal information. Use of the Website shall be construed to indicate that users have agreed to the terms of this Privacy policy.
- For general use of the Website users are not required to provide personal information such as a name and address that can be used to identify the user. However, users are asked to give personal information when they make a comment or inquiry. The personal information provided by the user will be used only as needed to achieve the purpose of use, and will not be used without the user's consent for purposes other than the intended use.
- JETRO will not disclose to third parties personal information provided by users, except in the following cases.
- The user has given consent (when there is a need to disclose information to a third party, the user will be asked in advance and his or her consent will be obtained).
- The information must be disclosed by law.
- JETRO discloses information to a subcontractor when such information is necessary for them to perform their work (in such cases, JETRO protects personal information by contractually obligating the subcontractor to appropriately manage and prevent leaks of personal information).
- The information is used as statistical data in such a way that individual users cannot be identified (for example, data on number of users by prefecture, industry, or age group).
- The Website provides services that use cookies. Cookies enable JETRO to identify specific computers being used, but they cannot identify individual users unless the user has input personal information. The cookies used when people visit the Website do not share personal information with other sites. Users can disable cookies by changing the settings on their browsers, but users should note that in such cases there will be a limit on the range of services on the Website that can be used.
- The Website adopts the following security measures, and exercises due caution to prevent unauthorized access to personal information, leaks of personal information, and tampering of data.
- Access to the server from the outside is allowed with the minimum necessary protocol to provide the service.
- Virus-detection systems and other means are used to protect against unauthorized access.
- On its access log the Website records information such as the IP address of the user accessing the site, the date and time of access, source link, files accessed, and browser used. The access log is not used for the purpose of identifying individual visitors; it is used as data to improve the Website and make it easier to use.
- Websites of companies, organizations, or individuals that are linked to the Website are not under the control of JETRO, and JETRO does not manage personal information of users on those websites. These linked websites may collect users' personal information. JETRO recommends that users exercise due caution in the handling of their own personal information, and that they check the Privacy policy of each website.
- If changes are made to this Privacy policy, JETRO will post the revised Privacy policy and the revision date on the Website. It shall be construed that users accept the revised Privacy policy when they access and use the Website for the first time after the revised Privacy policy has been posted.
